  11. My system locks up.
  12. Most of the links do nothing.

  1. I'm clicking, but nothing is happening.
Look at the upper right of your browser. Is there a tiny red 'X' in an image of a page (Chrome), or a notice across the top with a button (Firefox)? These mean that you need to enable popups for this site only. Click on the tiny 'X' (in Chome) or the button (in Firefox) and they'll give you a choice to enable them. Refresh the page and you're good to go.

  2. Does everything sync automatically as I refresh my browser window at any location?
Yes. And you don't have to refresh the whole window. Every time you
    • make a change to the map, or
    • click 'Refresh' on the menu
the map is synchronized with the shared master copy.

  3. Can I be signed in from a desktop, a laptop, and an iPad simultaneously?
    Yes.

  4. How many maps can I have?
The number of maps you can see and edit is unlimited, because other people can invite you to share in their maps.

But the number of maps you can create is limited. The number for paid accounts is set high enough that for most uses you should never reach the limit.

  5. Can maps be deleted if no longer necessary and not count against the allowed total, that is, could I create the maximum number of maps one month, and then delete 5 of them and replace them with 5 new ones the next month...and still be at the same monthly charge?
Yes, once you delete a map, it's gone, and your available total goes up.

  6. Can I get more nodes per map?
No, but there's good reason. Capping individual maps at a given number of nodes means
    • transmission time over the internet to your computer is kept fast, and
    • you can view most of the map on your screen at once
If you need a larger map the intent is that you will link smaller related maps together using Tunnels. That way, maps can be extended while retaining snappy performance.

  7. Is the billing auto-recurring?
Yes, after the first free month. You can cancel at any time by clicking 'Unsubscribe' from within your account page.

  8. Everything I do opens another tab or window. I got an alert saying there's some kind of problem with pop-ups.
ANSWER The problem is you won't be able to see what you want to change in the map while working in the various other windows (to add, edit, delete nodes, etc.). You'll see what we mean once this is adjusted. Here's how:

    For Internet Explorer 7

    1. Click 'Tools' and select 'Internet Options'.
    2. Click the 'General' tab.
    3. In the 'Tabs' section, click 'Settings...'
    4. click to put a Check next to the line that reads: 'Always open pop-ups in a new window.'

    For Safari

    1. Click 'Edit' and select 'Preferences'.
    2. Click the 'General' tab.
    3. click to put a Check next to the line that reads: 'Open links from applications in a new window.'

    For Firefox
Not a known problem. Yea, Firefox.

    For iPhone Safari
iPhone can only display the large windows.

    For Opera 9
I don't know how to fix it. If you do, let me know.

  9. My map disappeared!
ANSWER Probable cause: Your name has been removed from the list of users assigned to that map. Check with the map owner (the person that originally created it). They control who has access. It's also possible they have deleted the map.

  10. When I click the 'Submit To IdeaTree' button on my web browser's Link Bar, the Web page does not open in a new window, and/or I get the following message:
    Internet Explorer Script Error
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    Line:
    Char:
    Error: No such interface supported
    Code: 0
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
    ANSWER
Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type: 'regsvr32 actxprxy.dll'

Click OK , and then click OK again when you receive the following message: "DllRegisterServer in actxprxy.dll succeeded"

Click Start , and then click Run .

In the Open box, type: 'regsvr32 shdocvw.dll'

Click OK , and then click OK again when you receive the following message: "DllRegisterServer in shdocvw.dll succeeded"

Shut down and restart your computer.

This issue does not occur in Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1 or later. To obtain the latest version of Internet Explorer, visit:

  11. My system locks up!!!
    ANSWER
This may occur when doing graph operations that open a second window, such as "Delete" or "Edit". The cause is a bug in Internet Explorer versions 5.00.2614.2500 and 5.00.2614.3500. The solution is to update your browser (free). Just select "Update" from the Windows "Start" button.

  12. Most of the links do nothing.
    ANSWER 1:
You need to turn on Javascript in your browser. How that's done varies according to which browser you're using, but it will be under some menu called "Preferences" or "Options". In Internet Explorer it's under "Tools", then "Options".

    Why would I need Javascript?
Javascript is a computer language that runs in your browser to do certain things that we can't do from the website's computer. Javascript is what allows you to click the button on the Link Toolbar and automatically fill out the input form. It also is used to make the input form 'smart', to update the main page when you've typed in your information in a secondary page. It also controls the visual look of new windows. Bottom line: it's necessary.

    ANSWER 2:
If Answer #1 didn't solve your problem, it's probably a bug in your browser (which can be fixed). Here's how:
To solve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

    1. Quit all programs that are running.
    2. Click Start, and then click Run.
    3. Type 'regsvr32 urlmon.dll', and then click OK.
    4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
    • Shdocvw.dll
    • Msjava.dll
    • Actxprxy.dll
    • Oleaut32.dll
    • Mshtml.dll
    • Browseui.dll
    • Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only) If the problem is still not resolved, read this.
